OneCity Vancouver

the people

One City is a progressive political party in Vancouver focused on equity, affordability and diversity in the city. Christine Boyle and Brandon Yan ran for council, and Jennifer Reddy, Carrie Bercic and Erica Jaaf ran for spots on the school board. Christine and Jennifer won their races!

the project

Still a relatively new municipal party, the One City candidates had the opportunity (and the challenge) to create their image from the ground up. We needed photos that were professional while showing off their personalities and their excitement for sharing fresh ideas. To build on the recognition created during the previous election cycle and create new momentum, we needed print and digital collateral that would speak to both the younger demographic of voters and the more established, older progressive voters.

the process

The logo, colour and typefaces were set, so I was free to put them together in new ways to add freshness and polish to postcards, rack cards, Facebook and newspaper ads and infographics. I shot bright, summery headshots for each candidate to use in a wide variety of outreach materials and media coverage. After Christine and Jennifer were elected, we shot new fall/winter portraits to use going forward.
